Celebrating the life of

Edward Johnson Jacobs

February 02, 1931 - August 24, 2018

Devoted and Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather.

Edward Johnson Jacobs

Edward J. Jacobs, age 87, died August 24, 2018 at St. Joseph’s/Candler surrounded by his wife and two sons. He was born in Cumberland, MD. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was awarded two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. After his distinguished military service, he married and moved to Gaithersburg, MD. He began his career with the US Senate in the Publishing Office of the Joint Economic Committee. After 30 successful years, he retired to New Holland, PA.

Aside from a life of service to his country, he was an involved father and grandfather. He actively supported his sons through Boy Scouts and sports. Nothing gave Ed more pride then to see the successful lives of his two sons. Ed had a unique way of plainly speaking his observations on life. These “Ed-ism’s” will endure for generations evoking laughter and memories of a life well-lived.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, JoAnn Jacobs, of Savannah, GA; his son and daughter-in-law, Mitch and Melissa Jacobs, of Savannah, GA, and their two sons, Alec and Austin; and his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Jeff and Anne Jacobs, of Aiken, SC, and their two sons, Josh and Connor.

Ed will be laid to rest at a later date in his beloved Lancaster County, PA.

The family suggest any remembrances be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
